Chiropractors treat many different conditions and types of patient, the following lists are not conclusive, but do cover what we see most commonly.
Conditions related to joints, muscles and nerves.
- low back and pelvic pain
- neck pain
- shoulder, elbow and hand complaints
- hip, knee, ankle and foot complaints
- joint pain associated with arthritis sprains and strains
With joint and muscular conditions we first settle any muscle spasms and joint inflammation in order to reduce pain. After this we work on improving posture, alignment and gaining appropriate movement and flexibility of the joints and muscle. If a patient has good posture the wearing of the joints is more uniform and the joints are more stable. If a joint moves well nutrients can move around the joint more freely and it is less likely to degenerate. Finally, and probably most importantly we strengthen and rehabilitate the joints in order to help prevent future relapse of a condition and reduce the progression of degenerative changes.
Chiropractic adjustments help to stimulate the nervous system and improve nerve function.
